In June 2024, Holy Trinity embarks on a four month season of Clergy-Congregational Renewal as Fr. Chris begins his 8,000 mile sabbatical journey to see and experience God’s creation in new ways. This experience will involve four core elements and an invitation to the congregation. Please follow along here as we update the process and opportunities.

Fr. Chris will explore 8,000 miles of the United States and Canada on a motorcycle visiting holy sites and sacred grounds on the journey. Read the Sabbatical Narrative provided to the Lily Endowment Grant here.

As a way to see God’s creation in new ways, Fr. Chris will learn and study photography to document his experiences. Having taken very few photos in his lifetime, this will give Chris a new view of the world.

The emphasis of the motorcycle tour and photography will be visiting indigenous, religious, and colonial sacred sites such as The Great Indian Roadway, Standing Rock, Montreal Cathedral, and Gettysburg.

In creating his own Century, Chris will compile 100 photos, one photo from each of 100 days along his sabbatical journey, best representing his experience of seeing creation in a new “ethics of seeing”.

As a congregation, we will be invited for opportunities to experience renewal together led by parishioners as a parallel to Fr. Chris’ journey of renewal and growth.

Explore and learn how to use various herbs and medicinal plants for your everyday health and wellbeing.  Learn how to use plants as medicine, understand the risks and safety of herbs and medicinal plants, forage for your own medicinal plants, and learn how to craft your own medicines at home.  Also learn about other plant based products like essential oils supplements. More details to follow. In this offering, Jeanneatte and Russ will lead a group in planning and implementing a low-maintenance, xeriscape garden at Holy Trinity to remember those in our congregation who have passed on. The group will meet twice a month at the church for two to three hours. More details to follow. Learn more about this opportunity here!

Debbie Swanson will be facilitating a Three Day Guided Silent Retreat to help people enter into and receive from the gift of silence. Each person will meet with a trained spiritual director once each day to help process what is taking place in the silence and discuss any questions or concerns. The retreat will be scheduled from Thursday to Sunday on a given weekend. Find our more about this opportunity here.
